Drs. Josh and Katie Barnewolt would love to meet you personally. For a brief bio, this is your page.
Dr. Josh is a life-long resident of Kickapoo, Illinois. He graduated from Brimfield High School, and continued his education at Illinois Central College and Midstate College, studying the two fields of Architecture and Business Administration. While attending school, he enlisted in the Illinois Army National Guard in the 1st of the 131st Army Infantry, and completed basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia. Post 9-11, he was deployed to Wiesbaden Army Airfield, Germany to protect the installation from terrorist threats in Operation Enduring Freedom. Upon return, he became a Financial Adviser while continuing his education.
He then began his Chiropractic studies at Palmer College of Chiropractic, in Davenport, Iowa. There he completed 308 credit hours in the study of Chiropractic, and became National Board and Illinois State Certified. Dr. Barnewolt furthered his adjusting knowledge by studying SOT (Sacro-Occipital Technique), which is a low/no force system of adjusting the spine using gravity, and a person’s own weight resting on strategically placed blocks. He applies this technique, along with traditional techniques, to elicit optimal patient response to care.
He has completed the hours of study necessary to become a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician.
Most recently, Dr. Barnewolt has completed all of the coursework and examinations necessary to practice acupuncture.
Dr. Kate is a lifelong resident of Kickapoo, Illinois where she was raised by Dr. & Mrs. Robert Zinser. She graduated from Brimfield High School, and continued her education at Illinois Central College and Bradley University, graduating in three years with a double major in Elementary Education and General Science. While teaching 8th grade Math & Science in Peoria District 150, she earned a Master’s Degree in Teaching & Leadership from St. Xavier University, Field-Based Education. After four years of teaching, she resigned to begin her education at Palmer College of Chiropractic, in Davenport, Iowa. There she completed 308 credit hours in the study of Chiropractic and became National Board and Illinois State Certified.
Together, with her husband, Dr. Joshua A. Barnewolt, Dr. Kate is thrilled to be spreading Chiropractic one individual at a time, with additional certification in pediatric Chiropractic care from the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association. Dr. Katie has completed the Pediatric PracTise Series from ICA Counsil on Chiropractic Pediatrics. Currently, Dr. Kate is working toward her Diplomate in Pediatric Chiropractic, furthering her knowledge and effectiveness in this field.
Both physicians have attended Croft seminars on whiplash and brain traumatology, learning of the impact on the human body during low speed automobile crashes.
To further his knowledge in the nature of forces placed on the human body during a vehicle collision, Dr. Josh attended Northwestern University to become certified as a crash re-constructionist.
